Jukebox joints
When deciding what bar to spend your night drinking in, one of the most important things to consider is what music is available. Often times, the soundtrack of a bar can clearly foreshadow how the night is going to play out. Too much hard rock or an excess of rowdy drinking songs and the night may end in the toilet. Some oldies mixed with soft jazz and you might have a nice, relaxed conversation or two. A little Barry White and who knows who you’ll go home with.
For this reason, it is of utmost importance to know a) if the bar you’re going to has a jukebox and b) what style of jukebox will be guiding you through your revelries. What better way to get this information then from the people who spend day in and day out with their jukeboxs, listening to the same songs over and over (and over) again. Here are some jukeboxes with commentary from the bartenders who know them best.—Otto Ross, Metromix
