Margarita alternatives

Not that there's anything wrong with the margarita—we're not haters—but we know that Mexico has inspired more than that particular meeting of spirit and juice. Tequila all by itself—a virginal drink, if you will—is quite a treat. (At Cafe Poca Cosa, above, some 35 kind of tequila are offered, from $7 to $80 for a shot). At other places, you can find tequila-based drinks that are so creative and refreshing, you find yourself far beyond wanting to get down on your knees and thank that worm. And, of course, there are the many satisfying (and satisfying reasonable in price in these parts) beers and the twists bartenders can put on them. Drink up!
