The arrival of fall in Tucson is not immediate. The leaves do not explode with vibrant color, the air does not somersault from warm to crisp to cool, and outdoor activities do not become reliably risky due to rain.
Instead, this is the time we come out of summer hibernation. Slowly at first, shaking out our sweaters, daring to walk outside during daylight.
And then we are ready to be festive.
To meet those desires, a number of festivals mark this as the time of year to crawl out of the air conditioning and connect with our fellow Tucsonans once again.
