Fashion Throwdown at Bohemia
We always hear that when the economy is down, inspiration is up, and that's true with Tucson's fashion community. The latest proof, following the successful DIY Fashion Show at the Surly Wench a couple weeks back, came wrapped in an eco-minded message Feb. 28 at Bohemia.
The shop/gallery paired with a number of local businesses and designers for a fashion throwdown that focused on utilzing reclaimed fabrics for creative and experimental couture. In addition to Bohemia artists, designers hailed from vintage shop Preen, fair-trade boutique Toque de Pasion and Siobhan Clothing. Hair was styled by Da Da Art and Hair Studio, makeup by Coloure Theory. Local trio Flagrante Delicto provided the live soundtrack, and artist Mel Dominguez drew designs on an overhead projector.
A truly collaborative, interactive night, Surging the Mend: A Fashion Throwdown saw fashion enthusiasts cram into the cozy Bohemia, which kindly offered free wine.
