Same old jokes, better than the new jokes?
Eight time Oscar host Billy Crystal received a champion's welcome when he arrived nearly two hours into the ceremony. In keeping with his tradition of prolonging the show by joking about its length, he promptly made a crack about the show running long.
The actual funny part? The night's relatively brief three hour and 15 minute running time came in considerably tighter than any Oscar show Crystal ever hosted. (In the last 20 years, only Chris Rock's 2005 show was shorter—and that's just by one minute.)
