The incredible, edible pumpkin
It’s that time of year again, when the dusty storefronts are filled with rubber monster masks and the abandoned dirt lots sprout hoards of squashes. Where Broadway was once filled with chain restaurants and Office Maxes, now you can catch a glimpse of a gourd or a cool costume on your drive across town.
The holiday season has begun: Halloween is days away, and before you know it we’ll be eating turkey and wishing it was Christmas.
And while the air is filled with good cheer and the occasional fright, it’s important to remember the most integral component of the holidays: food.
Nothing’s more synonymous with the fall season than that ominous orange bulb: the pumpkin. While it’s usually immersed in coffees and desserts, we’ve picked out some sweet and savory ways to enjoy the holiday treat at local restaurants.—Andi Berlin/Special to Metromix
