Le Cave's Bakery
It’s no surprise that this South Side bakery consistently wins Best Of competitions and national awards. They have been selling “vegetable” doughnuts and frosted cakes from the same location since 1935.
Le Cave’s is one of the only places left that makes their doughnuts from potato flour, which tastes loads better than a prepackaged mix. They also cook them in vegetable oil instead of lard, which (fingers crossed) makes them a tad healthier. Le Cave’s doesn’t have a very large selection (they don't even sell coffee anymore), but they do the best glazed doughnut in town. After you eat here, you’ll never want that airy Krispy Kreme doughnut again.
