Montana Avenue
The people at Fox Restaurant Concepts have always been known for their desserts, but the doughnut at Montana Avenue just might take the cake.
The popular upscale destination on the East Side is famous for a brioche dessert doughnut with vanilla custard and berry compote. The doughnut ($7), which can be eaten with sweet wine or champagne (Kyle Lininger, pictured, looks pleased with the pairing), is made of handmade dough which is fried and then rolled in a generous amount of cinnamon sugar.
There is so much sugar on this doughnut that it almost tastes like a gourmet churro, but with a dense, bready texture within and a healthy whopping of cream on the side. The daffodil on top is also edible, in case the doughnut doesn’t fill you up.
