Tucson's best: doughnuts
Whether they’re maple brown, bright pink or covered in sprinkles, doughnuts have always been the red-headed stepchild of the breakfast world. They’re not necessarily healthy, they don’t have protein and you definitely can’t order them with lox. Even Krispy Kreme, which has single-handedly revived and tarnished the doughnut industry, gets much of its business at night.
But in Tucson these days, you don’t always have to eat a doughnut in the daytime. You can enjoy a $7 doughnut (a dessert option at Montana Avenue, pictured) after an evening of ahi tuna and fine wine, or speed through a drive-through at 8:30 at night. If you’re searching for a sweet snack, chances are someone around here will have one. It just depends on where you look…—Andi Berlin/Special to Metromix
