1702
It was crushing when Eric’s Fine Foods and Ice Cream, which served a homemade ice cream made with oatmeal and prunes—closed down in 2000. But Eric Lapie couldn't be kept away from the ice cream business, apparently, as he's back, in the same location, inside pizza joint 1702.
On a recent visit, the beer ice cream (there's generally one, which rotates every couple of weeks) was a tongue-tingling black hole chocolate stout ($3.45, shown). The chocolate mounds had miniscule flecks of ice that added that extra crunch. (Ask about the other flavors, which rotate as well, and recently included cookie dough, Almond Joy and Heath).
1702 also serves a wide variety of specialty beers on tap, and some pretty massive pizza slices ($4.85, plus $.75 per topping).
