My steak was just as ordered and my wife enjoyed her salmon. The salad was not only very fresh but an imaginative blend of veggies. The cheesecake topped it off. Both adults and family groups were made to feel at home. I suggest reservations. Once before we came without and couldn't wait as long as they predicted, but I apprecdiated their honest estimate and was anxious to try again on another occasion.

Charming and new, still getting settled out front, but the chef is fully up to speed in the kitchen! Tried a "Southwest S'More", and I WANT MORE! Just the right amount of heat, with smooth chocolat, graham crust, and a bruleed marshmallow top! Can't wait to try some of the other offerings in the case..it's much closer than Paris (and just as charming on a smaller scale). Any item would be an elegant addition to your table for that special dinner, or just because it's Monday! Price was lower than some "speciality markets" in the area as well, so stop by and treat yourself, soon! I may see you there, and I'll be bringing friends!
BillyClark wrote about Native New Yorker
I was recommended this place by a friend who, like I, enjoys hot wings. So the first time I went, I was with my wife and kids, who wont eat wings so I didn't get any. My wife had been there once already and commented how the service was extremely slow. It was shortly after they opened and figured they could have been busy or not staffed well enough so because of this I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Once again, the service was very slow, not just a little long on the food but enough to the point that we found ourselves asking " What is going on?" It must have been at least 30 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we received our food. I ordered a fish and chips basket. I think it was just under $10. The pieces of fish were nothing more than processed molded fillets that were all shaped similarly that you would expect to get from Jack In The Box or something. The side of slaw was literally about 2 bites worth of food and was probably the driest and worst tasting slaw Ive had in my life. My kids split a chicken planks basket and just like the fish, were all shaped the same, implying the same processed garbage you can get at any fast food joint for about half of the price. My wife had a burger and said it was OK. Our total bill was just under 50 bucks + tip, that was 3 meals, an appetizer and 4 drinks (no alcohol). Fast forward a few months. I was in Show Low a couple of weeks ago, and we were looking for a place to have a beer, a bite to eat and watch football. A local directed us to the Native New Yorker. I wasn't excited about the choice, but choices are slim in Show Low. So my brother and I ordered a large pizza with pep and sausage and i think the price of the pie was about $16. Once again, the thing took about a half an hour and it wasn't busy. The pizza came out and the pizza was thin, not a "thin crust" pizza, just cheap. The toppings were very skimpy and not very flavorful. Because of this we had no problem knocking down this thing between the two of us. The best way to describe it would be ordinary. It was food. Thats about it. It was not better than any chain pizza, including Little Ceasers, and even a DiGiorno or Freschetta would beat it hands down comparatively. If you want to pound a few brews, watch a game and munch some appetizers with your boys its an OK place I suppose. The atmosphere is fine and it's clean and there are lots of TVs. But if you actually WANT to eat something good at a joint like this head for a Chili's, Friday's, Applebee's ...anything else would be better!

mjensen9999 commented on Tucson's best: doughnuts
yeah, we heard about this $7 donut. last review we read before going to MA said, ooooh, it's so good and big. yeah, it's ok, fresh and all that and if you eat it yourself after a big meal maybe it's 'big', but don't kid youself, this is a high priced/over priced restaurant most of the $7 goes for overhead, but don't split this donut 4 ways. It's a freakin' donut, and not worth more than $1. Really

I've been dining at Mantis since I moved into Tucson 4 years ago. They have great food, large portions and excellent prices. I usually order one of their chicken, or beef dishes, but I've heard their seafood is great also. They have great lunch specials which comes with an entree, rice, soup, eggroll and crab cheese wonton (which are excellent), I always order a side of those with my dish. They do deliver as well, i think there's a minimum order (like 10 dollars) for free delivery. I would recommend this place to anyone. Try their Spicy Garlic Chicken Wings, they're out of this world!
hbgirl wrote about Lindy's Diner on 4th
I was unhappy with the sevice and "attitude" of the employees! Go eat at "Bumsteads"up the street and get more for your money! Especially don't go to "lindys" when there is a special occasion because they kick you out without telling you in advance and make you go out and get in a line to come back in! They obviously are the ones that have wriiten their own reviews!

Le Cave's. Without a doubt!
Anonymo wrote about Ole Mexican Grill
Like most of the "Mexican" restaurants on the NW side, this one too appears to cater to those unfamiliar with and probably unwilling to eat actual Mexican food. There are worse places on the NW but not much.
Anonymo wrote about Las Margaritas Restaurants
Do not go here if you want actual Mexican food. If, however, you are like most of the other customers I saw there and the thought of eating anything with actual flavor scares you, then by all means, enjoy. It just wasn't Mexican food. They serve what someone from the midwest who has never eaten Mexican food and probably doesn't know any Latino people might cook up.

The only thing better then the delicious food was the excellent service. The steaks were extraordinarily good as were all of the side dishes and desserts. The ambiance was very eloquent. Overall it was a fabulous evening.
Pastrymann wrote about Passion for the Love of Pastry
Could you afford a decent display case... How about more than 12 types of pastry and 6 each. I guess its okay for Tucson but otherwise very outdated and amateurish. Come on, S`mores yikes. The cheesecake was dismal without any distinguishing flavor profile or POP. I suspect you are resting on your laurels of Pastry chef of the year... Whoopee!!!

Fightrgirl wrote about World Sports Grille
My coworkers and I go to this bar a couple of time a week because they have a later happy hour than the other bars in the area. (until 8pm) The happy hour prices are good. Half off draft beer, well drinks, and house wine. And also half off apps. The bar is beautiful and they have a great selection of beers. The problem is that the bartending staff except for a couple of exceptions is horrible! They know how to make a drink so it's not as if they're inexperienced. It's just you can't get any service. They always have at least three bartenders in at a time but there seems to be no orginazation like one bartender takes one side of the square bar the other takes the other etc. Customers who sit at the bar are always trying to get the attention of a bartender to order a drink. Much of the time the bartenders are standing by the cash register or the sinks joking or flirting with each other. Even though we're pretty much regulars and we tip well we have issues getting service also. I guess they figure tahr with the amount of bar traffic they'll make enough money and don't really feel the need to give good service. Over the last year that we've been coming we've ran into several people who were also regulars who have abandoned the place because of the service so they really should start caring. There are a couple of exceptions to the bad bar service that I should mention since I've stated the bad. Two guys, one named Massai and another named Scott. Both go out of the way to greet customers right away and provide good service and make people feel welcome. The others could learn a lesson from them. As far as the food goes. We've mostly done the appitisers which are a good value at happy hour. Some things are better than others like the mini burgers and Kobe hot dogs on the plus side nachos on the minus side. The atmosphere is pretty high energy. The bar is very sleek with lots of marble and big screen tv's. There's also a couple of pool tables and dart boards as the bar area merges into the game room. Then lots of video games which are housed in the back half of the large restaurant space. I can't attest to the game selection because we seldom venture to that area sine that's where all the young kids hang out.

AZ Pizza Company and Kenny's Pub is owned by the rudest man I have ever met. If you inconvenience him as a customer or potential customer even in the slightest he treats you like he is the Queen of England and you just spit on him. I would call first and make sure that "Kenny" or "the owner" is not in the place because you will most likely have an unpleasant experience if you don't. I wouldn't go here period as I'm sure someone who is so rude to his customers would have no problem putting sub par food (ie. expired, going bad, dropped on floor, licked, spit on) on your plate in front of your mouth.

I have got to say, the steak here is awesome and a great value. Don't deny yourself the pleasure. Get over to Silver Saddle yesterday. Besides good food and great value, the staff 's service is top notch. Prompt and courteous.

I have gone into La Olla on several occasions because we try to support local businesses however, the service is AWFUL. Almost all wait staff that I have encountered have been so rude and the owner is often in the restaurant and is never even remotely friendly. The food is mediocre at best and very expensive. Don't recommend.....
osprey826 wrote about Cayton's at The Ritz-Carlton
Short Rib Sliders and a local made beer is not what I expected for my first visit to Cayton's at the new Ritz-Carlton. I thought it would be stuffy and expensive but it was just the opposite. There is no better service, no better food and no place more comfortable to relax with friends. I loved eating the rib sliders and Copperhead Ale (Barrio Brewery) while watching the sunset over the mountains. Cayton's is at the golf club that hosts Accenture Match Play. It opened early this year. The Ritz hotel and spa open the end of the year and our bartender told me that there going to be 3-4 more great restaurants and bars coming up there. He wouldn't tell me the concepts but he said, "locals and guests are going to love it." If you havn't been, there is nothing to lose. I'm talking my parents for brunch in 2 weeks.
